Talk: Navigating Puberty: Optimizing Strength Training for Youth Cyclists
Speaker: Chris Ford
Overview: Chris is an Accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach with over 10 years’ experience. Having worked with a variety of developing athletes, he will discuss the physical changes happening to the body due to puberty, how these effect movement and how we can support youth cyclists to avoid poor movement, grow well and cycle well.

Talk: Is consistency important for cyclists?
Speaker: Dr Chris Whittle
Overview: Chris has over 15 years’ experience studying the mechanics behind sport and exercise movements and has completed his PhD looking at how cyclists move while on the bike. In this talk, Chris will introduce the idea of movement variability and look to challenge whether the idea of a consistent pedalling technique is actually helpful.
Talk: Leading from behind the wheel - an insight into the sport directors programme at the UCI.
Speaker: Richard Cheetham MBE
Overview: Richard has been heavily involved with Coach Education and Development within the UCI for over a decade and is Course Tutor on the International Sport Directors programme. In this talk Rich will give an insight into the programme itself (usually only available to existing Sport Directors working for UCI WorldTeams, UCI ProTeams or UCI Women’s WorldTeams) and some of the challenges he has encountered while delivering it.

The second VC Venta beer and pizza evening at the South Downs Social will incorporate presentation of the 2022 Club Awards.
Entry is by ticket only.
